Head Instructor - Sensei Robert Korody - Yodan (4th Degree Black Belt)

Dan Zan Ryu (DZR) Jujitsu at NYJJ is taught by Sensei Robert Korody, a certified instructor of the American Judo and Jujitsu Federation (AJJF), the oldest certifying body of martial arts in the United States today. Sensei Korody currently holds the rank of Yodan, or 4th degree black belt, and is also a certified instructor of the Dan Zan Ryu Seifukujitsu (Healing Arts) Institute, an affiliate branch of the AJJF.
Sensei Korody began his training in Dan Zan Ryu under Sensei Gerald Halligan in 1991 and in 2003 was awarded the title of Renshi, or polished expert , by Professor Tony Janovich, 6th Dan, following the completion of the “Okugi” , an advanced training seminar held every ten years. Sensei Korody is also an affiliate instructor of the Pacific Jujitsu Alliance (PJA), under Sensei Robert McKeane and a certified instructor of Combat Knife Fighting under the Concrete Warrior Knife Society, an affiliate of the PJA. Sensei Korody also holds the rank of 4th sash in Wu Yin Yan Jing Kung Fu, a fighting system of Kung Fu and teaches extensive blocking, striking, and kicking technique in conjunction with the DZR curriculum.
Sensei Korody is a NYS licensed Physical Therapist and Acupuncturist, and the owner and chief practitioner of Cedar Mountain Healing Arts of NYC.
